Dr. Ellen Puré is the Grace Lansing Lambert Professor of Biomedical Science and chair of the department of biomedical sciences at the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine in Philadelphia. She is an associate director of the CRI Scientific Advisory Council and chairwoman of the CRI Postdoctoral Fellowship Review Committee. Dr. Puré graduated with a Ph.D. in Immunology from UT Southwestern Medical School and went on to complete an immunology postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Texas SW Center and a cellular physiology and immunology postdoctoral fellowship from The Rockefeller University. Her research focuses on the cellular and molecular basis of inflammation and fibrosis. She has discovered novel ways the immune system regulates inflammation, and her work continues to focus on characterizing how various cells and molecules contribute to inflammation and fibrosis, especially in the context of chronic inflammatory diseases and cancer. She is the recipient of a Distinguished Alumnus Award from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, an Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America Investigator Award, and the Arthritis Foundation-Stewart J. McCracken Chapter Award for Research.
